The
Brakes are the next thing I tackled, the rear brake pipe shown here, Goodridge
hoses used |

Front Brake pipes also in Goodridge hose,
connected to Caliper with a short copper tube mounted to a flange, bolted
to the calliper with maim mounting bolt.
The bulkhead fittings need a 10mm hole
min.

Master cylinders fitted here directly
to bulkhead, through the pedal box using 8mm 8.8 bolts and nyloc nuts.
The last thing i want to happen is the brakes to fail on me.
Note the Clutch cable extension, 50mm
long to allow the Std Escort Mk 2 cable to be used.
The Cylinders are Girling .75 Front and
.70 Rear, I hope this works!

Stuart Taylor pedal box fitted, you can
see the bias bar here, this needs to be locked with the bias towards the
front for SVA.
This bar is adjustable from the dashboard,
but has had the cable removed for SVA.

Pedal box comes with a throttle pedal, it can be seen here without the cables
fitted. |

The
Handbrake was quite simple to modify and fit, the standard escort lever
was used with an extension from it made of 6mm stud and connects to a home
made linkage to take the 2 Austin Allegro brake cables |

linkage is clearer here. The connecting bar was scrap 25mm x 25mm angle. |

The
cables are held on the axle with more of the 25mm angle, machined here to
clear the panard rod. |

I am using the std Escort Dash board
in this Locost, 1. to keep costs to a minimum and 2. for SVA reasons
I used some stiff card for a template,
then covered the opening with some thin clear lexan.

The Dashboard was made from thin, 3mm
ply covered with some upholstery foam then black vinyl, making sure that
the bottom edge is nicely padded.

that wiring loom!!!
The steering wheel will be changed soon
to a 10" Mountney leather rim 3 spoke wheel.

Well...the
car is almost ready for SVA, lights all working, just a few small things
to do like fit front wheel arches, fit a few trims. |
